Bananas for Grasshoppers
A reinterpretation of the banana daiquiri but with "Chapulines" or Grasshoppers.
It is a sweet and fruity cocktail, that pairs well with both sweet and spicy foods, from fish tacos to spicy chicken or pineapple desserts!
Who doesn't love a banana daiquiri? It is one of my guilty pleasures. This one uses Ayuuk instead of Rum, a pasilla chilli spirit rested in Oloroso sherry casks. There's also a touch of black walnut bitters and Chapulines grasshoppers to garnish, an original cocktail for sure.
Chop 1⁄2 banana and add to the food processor
Add juice from 1⁄2 lime
Add 2 tsp of demerara sugar
Add 4 dashes of black walnut bitters
Add 40 ml of Ayuuk spirit
Add ¼ cup of ice cubes
Blend until smooth and transfer to a coupe glass
Garnish with 1½ tsp of chapulines grasshoppers
Your drink is ready!
