A versatile and traditional dough used to make Ukrainian dumplings known as vareniki.
Can be used with different types of fillings, both sweet and savory.
Sift 1½ cup of all-purpose flour into a mixing bowl
Add ½ tsp of salt. Make a well in the center and add 1 egg yolk
Add 2 tbsp of sunflower oil and ½ cup of hot water
Gradually mix the flour with the wet ingredients until you obtain a soft and pliable dough
Knead the dough to form a ball and wrap it in cling film
Place the dough in the refrigerator for 1h to relax. The vareniki dough is ready
Use this dough to make vareniki!
