Sumanth leads the barista team at the ARAKU Coffee flagship store in Bangalore. For him, anybody can make a perfect cup of coffee under the right training. His experimentation with coffee is ever-thriving where local ingredients inspire him to optimize the flavors of coffee grounds. He kicked off his career in 2013 as a bartender at the Marriott. After that, his stints as a mixologist at Waldorf Astoria allowed him to explore homegrown ingredients with international spirits. A bike rider of passion, while traversing along the south of India, he chanced upon a coffee estate in Sakleshpur where he learnt about coffee production and its nuances. He then decided to pivot his career to becoming a trained barista, and the rest is history. He’s also a Specialty Coffee Association certified barista who has successfully taken the Coffee Skills Program—Barista Skills (foundation, intermediate, and professional level).
