Caramelized Baby Onions
Oven-caramelized onions: sweet, simple, with a hint of citrus. A delightful accompaniment for steaks, poultry, and fish, or a fantastic filling for tarts and sandwiches, as well as a savory topping for pizzas.
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Peel 12 baby onions
Cut them in half crosswise
Transfer to a bowl and add the zest of ½ a lemon
Add salt to taste and 2tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
Toss to coat all the onions
Transfer the onions to a pan with the wider part up and top with 3 sprigs of thyme
Bake for at least 25m until tender and deep golden brown. The caramelized baby onions are ready
