Caramelized Onion Cracker
A delicious cracker to serve with all kinds of dips! This dough can be made with various flavor combinations by adding spices or replacing the caramelized onions.
Trim, peel and thinly slice <quantity>1</quantity> onion
Add some vegetable oil to a skillet over medium-low heat and add the onion
Add the leaves of <quantity>1<unit>sprig</unit></quantity> of thyme and stir
Lower the heat and cook the onion, stirring constantly, until completely caramelized
Transfer the caramelized onion to another recipient and blend with a hand blender until it becomes a smooth purée. Set aside
Add <quantity>300<unit>g</unit></quantity> of all-purpose flour and <quantity>7<unit>g</unit></quantity> of salt to a bowl
Add <quantity>35<unit>ml</unit></quantity> of water and <quantity>100<unit>g</unit></quantity> of melted butter
Add <quantity>1<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of the caramelized onion purée and work on the dough into a tight ball
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and place in the refrigerator overnight to rest
Preheat the oven to <temperature>165<unit>°C</unit></temperature>
Roll out the dough as thin as possible using a rolling pin
Place the flattened dough on a wire rack lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with flaky salt to taste
Bake the dough for 6m until the edges begin to turn golden
Flip the dough around and bake it for 2m until golden brown. The caramelized onion cracker is ready
