A sweet and tangy cranberry sauce that is perfect to serve with turkey for the holiday season! A traditional sauce for the holiday season, but it wasn't part of chef Mhairi's Christmas spread when she was growing up. In her younger years, she associated Cranberry Sauce with overly sweet and jelly-like sauces from the jar, which she didn't find appealing. In her opinion, this sauce, with its combination of tang, sweetness, and a hint of booziness from the port, is an entirely different experience.
Add 2½cups of cranberries and ½cup of light brown sugar to a pot
Add the zest and the juice of 1 large orange
Add 50ml of tawny port wine and a pinch of salt
Turn on the heat to medium and cook for 8-10m. Stir occasionally until the cranberries are tender and starting to break down
Transfer the mixture to a container and let it cool down. The cranberry sauce is ready
Enjoy! This is the perfect sauce to pair with poultry meats.
