French Toast
This is a French toast for someone you love—rich, decadent, and nutmeg-laced. Using good, thick slices of brioche here is key, as are the best heavy cream, vanilla, maple syrup, and milk you can get your hands on. French toast is a classic comfort food that is enjoyed in many countries around the world and is often served as a delicious and satisfying breakfast or brunch option.
Crack <quantity>6</quantity> eggs into a large bowl and whisk them thoroughly until the yolks and whites are completely blended
Add <quantity>2<unit>cups</unit></quantity> of heavy cream and <quantity>2<unit>cups</unit></quantity> of whole milk
Add <quantity>2½<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of vanilla extract. If using concentrated extract, reduce to <quantity>1<unit>tsp</unit></quantity>. Add <quantity>2½<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of maple syrup
Add a pinch of salt and grate <quantity>⅓</quantity> of a whole nutmeg
Cut <quantity>6</quantity> slices of <quantity>1<unit>inch</unit></quantity> thick each out of a brioche loaf
Heat <quantity>1<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of butter in a griddle or skillet over medium-low heat. Let it melt and foam without browning
Dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture. As you remove it, allow any excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the dipped bread onto the griddle or skillet. Cook 2 slices at a time
Cook the bread undisturbed for 1m, then check the bottom periodically to ensure it’s not burning. Cook both sides until golden brown. Repeat the process with all the slices
Transfer 2 slices to each plate and drizzle maple syrup to taste. The french toast is ready
Enjoy!
