New York Sour
This New York Sour recipe consists of a classic Whiskey Sour base finished with a red wine float. Beautiful colors and depth of flavor make this one to remember! This goes really well with charcuterie, roasted meats and vegetables.
Boil <quantity>500<unit>ml</unit></quantity> of water
Add <quantity>500<unit>g</unit></quantity> of sugar. Cook until dissolved
Transfer to container in an ice bath. Stir until chilled
Fill glass bottle. The simple syrup is ready
Add <quantity>50<unit>ml</unit></quantity> of bourbon whiskey to a cocktail shaker
Add <quantity>20<unit>ml</unit></quantity> of simple syrup
Add <quantity>30<unit>ml</unit></quantity> of lemon juice
Add <quantity>1<unit>tsp</unit></quantity> of powdered egg whites
Fill the larger tin of the cocktail shaker with <quantity>2<unit>cups</unit></quantity> of ice cubes
Transfer the whiskey mix to the ice cubes. Shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled
Strain the cocktail. Discard ice
Shake vigorously to froth egg whites
Trim <quantity>1</quantity> clear ice to fit glass
Strain cocktail into the cold glass
Add <quantity>30<unit>g</unit></quantity> of red wine
Cut a piece of orange peel
Squeeze the peel and rub the rim of the glass. Garnish the New York Sour
