Orange & Whiskey Brigadeiro
A perfect sweet treat, the Brazilian traditional chocolate ball gains an alcoholic and orange touch. Perfect on its own or paired with a cup of coffee.
Brigadeiro is a traditional Brazilian sweet treat. It is a type of chocolate truffle or fudge made from condensed milk, chocolate, and butter. They are a staple in parties and celebrations in Brazil, often served as a dessert or as part of a dessert table.
Add 2 cups of condensed milk and ⅓ cup of dark chocolate chips to a saucepan over low heat
Add 4 tsp of butter and stir to melt and combine all the ingredients
Add a pinch of salt, ⅓ cup of smoked single malt whiskey, and combine
Add the zest from 1 orange
Stir vigorously for 15-20m until the mixture starts to thicken and pull away from the bottom. The brigadeiro will be ready when it starts to drain in a single thick syrup from the spoon, without falling in batches
Transfer to a container and cover with cling film, pressing against the surface. Place in the refrigerator for 1h to firm
Add 1 cup of chocolate sprinkles to a plate. Shape the chilled chocolate mixture into balls and roll them in the sprinkles
Finish with orange zest to taste. The orange & whiskey brigadeiro is ready
