Oyster Opening
Opening – or shucking – oysters is an essential technique that you need to know! Even though raw is the most famous way to eat oysters, they can also be grilled, fried, and roasted, among many other ways to cook it.
Place an oyster on a kitchen towel, with the flat side facing up and the pointed hinge side facing out. Wrap it and point it in the direction of your dominant hand
Insert the tip of the oyster knife into the hinge between the two shells. Slightly insert it by wiggling the knife, then twist to separate the shells
Gently lift the flat top shell while scraping the knife along it to detach the oyster
Slide the knife under the oyster to detach it from the bottom shell. The oyster is open
Enjoy it raw or cooked!
