Romesco Sauce
Romesco Sauce is a delicious Spanish sauce that is very versatile! It can be paired with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or even fish. This is the perfect sauce to take on a picnic, as it pairs very easily with various dishes, or to keep in your fridge for a few days! Hazelnuts can be replaced with almonds or any of your preferred nuts!
Heat a skillet over high heat
Add <quantity>1<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of extra virgin olive oil
Add <quantity>½<unit>cup</unit></quantity> of hazelnuts and sautée until fragrant
Halve and roughly slice <quantity>3</quantity> canned piquillo peppers
Add the hazelnuts, along with the olive oil, and <quantity>1<unit>tsp</unit></quantity> of nora chili flakes to a blender
Add <quantity>1<unit>tsp</unit></quantity> of smoked paprika and <quantity>1<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of extra virgin olive oil
Add <quantity>¼<unit>cup</unit></quantity> of breadcrumbs
Finely grate <quantity>1</quantity> garlic clove and blend to break down the nuts into smaller pieces
Add the piquillo peppers and season with salt to taste
Add <quantity>½<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of sherry vinegar and <quantity>½<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of extra virgin olive oil
Blend on high speed until smooth and homogeneous. The romesco sauce is ready
