White Rice
A simple recipe for white rice that can be paired with grilled vegetables, roasted meats, stews, omelets, and anything else you can think of!
Peel, halve and small dice <quantity>½</quantity> onion
Mince <quantity>4</quantity> large garlic cloves
Put a saucepan over medium-low heat, add <quantity>5<unit>tbsp</unit></quantity> of vegetable oil and the minced garlic. Stir
Add the diced onion, stir and let it cook until slightly translucent
Add <quantity>2<unit>cups</unit></quantity> of white rice and stir
Add <quantity>1</quantity> dried bay leaf and <quantity>½<unit> tsp</unit></quantity> salt and mix
Add <quantity>4<unit>cups</unit></quantity> of water and mix
Bring to a boil and cook until ¾ of the water has evaporated
Turn the heat down to low, cover and let the rice finish cooking until all the water has evaporated. The white rice is ready
